Research scientist with international experience in academia in Germany and UK. Proven track record in leadership, research income generation (~ 1.1M) and project delivery (over 80 international publications). Research prioritises a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the cognitive and neural basis of learning, memory and control processes. Experienced in neuroimaging methods (EEG, MRI) with a particular focus on their integration. Solid experience in successful PhD supervision (more than 15 completions). Recognised ability to communicate effectively across organisations. Teaching across Psychology and Medicine, with a focus on cognitive psychology as well as neuroscience. Grateful to collaborate with colleagues (interdisciplinary team teaching) to support students in bridging theory, evidence, and practice.
RESEARCH I’m interested in the cognitive mechanisms and neural underpinnings of the interplay between learning and memory. With the amazing opportunities being on a medical campus my focus in research now focusses on populations with a less typical approach to learning. RESEARCH I’m interested in the cognitive mechanisms and neural underpinnings of the interplay between learning and memory. I'm also interested in the functional architecture of different memory systems and the processes by which information is transferred between these memory systems. My research topics include: Second Language Acquisition Feedback based Learning Long-term (semantic) memory formation TEACHING Module Convener Biological Basis of Psychology (UG) Module Convener Neuropsychology (PGT) Contributing to various neuroscience/ biopsychology modules at UG/PGT level currently supervising 4 PGR students in UK (3) and Germany (1) as first/sole supervisor MANAGEMENT Head of Brain and Cognitive Sciences Group Chair of the Faculty Ethics Committee
