Most people in IT don't quite know what I do, and honestly that's part of the job. I make sure applications stay up and can be rebuilt reliably from scratch, and I try to spot what's going to cause problems before it does. I sit between developers and infrastructure, translating what both sides need so neither one blocks the other. A big part of my work is pushing the team toward tools and practices that actually hold up at scale, but not just setting things up. Teaching others how to use them properly so the knowledge sticks. Over the past few years I've introduced GitOps, centralised observability, FinOps, and IaC-first infrastructure at companies that had none of it. Most recently I designed a full cloud environment on Telekom Cloud from zero, with everything in code and CI/CD from day one. I hold AZ-700, AZ-140, and Telekom Cloud certifications, and have hands-on experience across Azure, OCI, and Kubernetes.
I was one of the first people at the company pushing modern operations practices, and basically had to build most of it from scratch. Introduced centralised logging with Loki, set up Grafana and Prometheus for observability, and got FinOps off the ground using OpenCost so the company could actually see what cloud resources were costing. Brought in GitOps with ArgoCD and Kargo, and made sure it wasn't just me using it. Ran internal sessions to get colleagues up to speed so the knowledge stuck. Drove IaC adoption with Terraform across Azure and OCI, and did on-site consulting with a customer to help them through their cloud migration. Most recently designed and provisioned a full cloud environment on Telekom Cloud from zero. Everything in code from day one, including CI/CD pipelines, policies, and access management. Certifications earned here: AZ-700, AZ-140, and Telekom Cloud Solution Architect certifications.
Managed Kubernetes clusters and Oracle infrastructure running on Linux servers, keeping things stable and automating as much of the operational work as possible. Built and maintained CI/CD pipelines, wrote Bash scripts for operational automation, and handled infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and Ansible. Also set up the company's internal GitLab instance from scratch, built an Ansible playbook for it, and ran it as GitLab admin on an ongoing basis. One of the bigger projects I owned end-to-end was a FreeSwitch VoIP infrastructure. I planned and implemented the whole thing independently, automated the setup and management of 11 VMs, and continuously improved the setup over time. Stayed in close contact with the developers throughout to make sure the infrastructure matched what the product actually needed.
Developed and maintained PL/SQL database logic for internal business applications.
Completed my apprenticeship (Ausbildung) as Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung here, and stayed afterwards as a junior developer. Worked as a fullstack developer on internal applications using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript. First hands-on experience with Docker, Elasticsearch, and Kibana.
