Currently, I am serving as the Director of Rice University's Doerr Institute for New Leaders. The Institute's mission is to "...elevate the leadership capacity of Rice students and to improve the practice of leader development in higher education." Before entering academia, I proudly served in the U.S. Army as an aviator (Apache Helicopters) and organizational leader. I retired from the military in 2016 with the rank of Brigadier General. To date, I have successfully led teams ranging in size from 10 to over 3000 people. As a leadership expert, I routinely engage with organizations across all sectors and levels of maturity regarding their talent development and change efforts. Additionally, I have capably served as an independent director for non-profit/private companies/and publicly traded companies. Demonstrated ability to craft powerful talks that meld research and practical experience in service of equipping people to lead more effectively. I have delivered highly rated keynote addresses to organizations across the globe (e.g. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, AbbVie, GE, Department of Defense, Community Solutions, Chevron, and Procter and Gamble).
