As a VP of Engineering covering the core Search product at Algolia, I participate in the definition of the product & technical strategy on Search, and am responsible for its translation into execution – projects delivery and system operation. I lead the AI Search group, consisting of 40 people organized in 5 teams, defining and delivering the core product of Algolia. I guide engineering managers & directors in their planning, definition of deliverables, execution, and supervise the architecture design of the core platform and the AI platform. The platform is developed in Go, on top of Kubernetes for the orchestration. I oversee the SRE department, consisting of 20 people organized in 3 teams, operating the critical systems in production of the company. I guide engineering managers & directors in their planning, automation effort, incident management, infrastructure and budget management. The infrastructure is deployed on bare metal machines (managed with Chef and Stackstorm) and on public clouds (managed with Terraform). I supervise the Data department, consisting of 40 people organized in 3 teams, responsible for the ingestion pipelines and transformation systems. I work with my counterparts in other functions – Product, Customer Success, Finance – to make business successful. I enable Go To Market teams on the core Search product, by enabling and supporting customers interactions at executive levels.
I participate in the definition of the strategy & the R&D organization required to achieve it. I guide engineering managers to deal with their fears, uncertainties and doubts, and reach their full potential. I leverage my theoretical skills and experience in computer science to design or re-design distributed systems, achieving new limits in terms of speed, scalability and reliability.
I lead the "Perpetual Deployment" team that I initiated in the Site Reliability Engineering department of Criteo, managing the people in the team and implementing a solution for making continuous deployment a reality at Criteo
