- Set the strategic direction of ING in specific areas of security by working with CISO, CIO, business, etc. to define a comprehensive architectural vision in the area. - Deliver security architecture to the global ING organization, manage the roadmap for the IT Risk & Security portfolio, support defining and detailing Risk projects, support the teams facing non-trivial security issues. - Initiate and lead architectural work in the area of security, or having a major security component. Provide subject-matter experts with assistance when the architectural vision goes to execution mode, to ensure adherence to that architectural vision. - Provide security architecture guidance to global senior and general management across all of IT, Business, and Risk (e.g. the CISO, Global MT EA council or business unit CIOs). - Be a sparring partner of architects across global enterprise architecture domains and in the local business units, and support them on the interactions and dependencies between their architectural domains and security architecture. - Represent ING towards relevant external parties (like peers in other banks, regulators, IT industry peers, and academic researchers) for architectural topics. - Initiate and lead market, vendor, and product studies.

The Cyber Security Coalition is a partnership between players from the academic world, the public authorities, and the private sector to join forces in the fight against cybercrime. More than 100 players from across these sectors are active members contributing to the Coalition’s mission and objectives. The Focus Group shares experiences in the field of security architecture development for security service implementation and for governance, risk, and compliance support. - Architect of the JEE Hosting Service, ranging from conceptual to day-to-day operations. Covering bank-grade security, scalability, load-balancing, monitoring, high-availability, disaster recovery and aspects of service management (cost back-charging, SLA measurement, etc). In a distributed environment and with a mix of technologies (network load-balancers, secure reverse proxies SRP, hardware security modules HSM, authentication servers, user provisioning UAM, etc). - Security and hardening of WebSphere Application Server, in combination with Tivoli Access Manager for e-business, hardware security modules for cryptography, etc. - Support to developers: Java / JEE / web / security best practices, profiling and performance tuning, development guidelines, best practices presentations, etc. - Support to application architects: architecture advice, selection of enterprise integration patterns, review of application architecture documents. - Support to project manager: business benefits, scope, priorities, work breakdown structure, workload estimates, etc. - Support to operations: L3 support, on-call, work instructions, FAQ, troubleshooting training, etc. - Resolution of complex or high-impact Incidents / Problems (ITIL): deep-dive Java troubleshooting (thread deadlocks, memory leaks, slow performances, complex stability issues, etc), lead technical teams in problem investigation, coordination with several Vendor supports, communicate progress to management in crisis situations, etc.
