  • Emma – The Sleep Company (Lisbon, Portugal · Hybrid)
    • Vice President Offline Europe (Wholesale, Retail Owned & Operated, Franchise)
      Oct 2024 - Present · 1 yr 9 mos

      - The growth of our successful Emma Stores concept cannot be only fulfilled with Owned & Operated stores. There is obviously a cashflow element, and a risk, but also a question of expertise. We know that we don’t know a lot of things in this field, hence we want to grow our expertise by adding a new channel to our Offline world: Franchise - With Emma Stores that are created and run by independent retailers, we want to target more locations, and to give the opportunity to talented retailers and also entrepreneurs to grow this business to unexpected heights - Since the Franchise world is new to us, but since speed remains our motto, we decide to create our first retail independent Emma stores under a dealership model, whilst we build our soon to be launched franchise program. Our first Independent Emma Stores are launched in Spain and France - The number of our Owned & Operated Emma Stores has now reached 16, in 5 countries - The overall Offline team has now grown to 130+ people across Europe, including team members in commercial, marketing, operations and store management roles - The department is now called Offline (to cover the three sub channels), and I was promoted Vice President - Member of the C Level

    • Senior Director Wholesale and Retail
      Dec 2023 - Oct 2024 · 11 mos

      - After 18 extremely intense months of restructuring (teams and portfolio of wholesale partners), which lead to profitability, and a successful integration of the upsteam and downstream Operations teams, I was promoted Senior Director - The scope now includes Retail (Owned & Operated Emma Stores), after the successful launch of our first test in The Netherlands. A few more stores are launched across Europe, to understand the variables behind success or failure - It doesn’t go without some frictions with our existing Wholesale Partners, which see competition where we see growth opportunities. The point is to convince them that creating Emma Stores will participate in enhancing the Emma brand, hence generate more traction and traffic in their stores. - The team has now grown to 70 people

    • Wholesale Director Europe
      Jul 2022 - Dec 2023 · 1 yr 6 mos

Joined the world Bed-in-a-Box online leader with exponential growth, to lead their Wholesale development in Europe. - Emma was created as an online business and is now a global online leader. However its attempts to tackle the still larger offline market had not been as successful so far. As very pragmatic successful leaders, its founders decided to create a dedicated team - Reporting directly to the CEO and co-founder, my role is to reorganise the pre-existing teams, to carve out the commercial, marketing and operational teams in order to give focus, momentum to a still small part of the business, and to turn Wholesale Europe into a profitable business, whilst growing it - Leading a team of around 50 people across Europe, located in several offices and remotely. One of the first actions was to give them optimism, visibility, and desire for success. It involved reshaping the teams, with some departures and arrivals, and showing them but also the rest of the teams that we could be successful - Quite a few tough negotiations and decisions with all our Wholesale partners across Europe, in order to achieve profitability. It included not being afraid of losing business and revenue for the sake of becoming stronger in the future - Negotiated internally the carve out of our operations, in order to get a dedicated ops team, from production & planning, to first mile, warehousing, last mile and customer service. The objective was to create expertise for the offline world, whilst our Global ops team was 150% committed to the success of a booming online business, and could not bring the service we needed - Integrated Etailers and Marketplaces into our portfolio, in addition to brick & mortar retailers across Europe - Launched our first Owned & Operated Emma Store in the Netherlands in Feb-23, as a test towards Retail
