I’m Bennett Johnson, a passionate filmmaker and soon-to-be graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, earning a B.S. in Video Production in Spring 2026. Growing up in Wisconsin, I discovered early on that storytelling through film and video is not just a hobby, it’s a way to connect, challenge perspectives, and bring ideas to life. Over the past several years, I’ve immersed myself in all aspects of production, from concept development and directing to on-set collaboration and post-production. I have directed four short films Vessel, Strapped, and Don’t Answer and am currently working on my senior capstone film, Inheritance, which combines suspense, strong character-driven storytelling, and cinematic visuals. Each project has strengthened my ability to craft engaging narratives, manage creative teams, and adapt to the fast-paced environment of a set. In addition to my own projects, I have gained hands-on experience working on two feature films: Progeny as a Production Assistant and Winter Hymns as 2nd Assistant Camera. These opportunities allowed me to learn the inner workings of professional productions, collaborate with seasoned crews, and observe how large-scale projects come together from pre-production through post-production. I’ve also had the chance to work with major Midwest companies, including Medtronic, through Hiker, giving me exposure to commercial production and corporate storytelling. I am dedicated, enthusiastic, and eager to continue building my skills in film and video production. I thrive in collaborative environments where creativity meets precision, and I am constantly seeking new challenges that allow me to expand my technical expertise and storytelling abilities. Whether it’s directing, cinematography, editing, or on-set support, I bring energy, focus, and a problem-solving mindset to every project. As I prepare to launch my career, I am actively seeking opportunities to contribute to professional productions, learn from experienced filmmakers, and create work that resonates with audiences. I am excited to connect with industry professionals, fellow creatives, and organizations that share a passion for visual storytelling.

I served as the Second Assistant Camera on Nathan Deming’s feature film Winter Hymns, supporting camera operations and on-set workflow.
