Chico, California, United States
Hello! My name is Ben Mitchell, and I am a current Economics student at CSU Chico, graduating in 2027.
As a Senior Analyst, I lead and mentor a team of analysts with Chico Creek Capital, CSU Chico’s student-managed investment fund. I conduct in-depth equity and fixed-income research, financial analysis, and risk management. I deliver investment recommendations and presentations, oversee liquidity management, and leverage Bloomberg terminals to inform portfolio decisions.
As a Junior Analyst, I worked to support the fund’s investment activities and assist the other Analysts in financial research and analysis, as well as in technical presentations. During my tenure as a Junior Analyst, I worked on several projects that helped to grow the assets under the fund’s management by over twenty percent. My responsibilities included building predictive models, assessing risk management, assisting in equity research, and producing equity reports.
Worked to train AI models on a variety of tasks. I primarily worked with LLMs, but have experience with coding-specific and image-specific models, as well as limited experience with training audio chatbots. I also have significant experience with integrating and refining personalization features for agentic AI. As part of my role, I created fine-grained criteria to judge and train AI responses with, and provided detailed factuality and relevance feedback, among a variety of other metrics.
