In August of this year I took on my first client as a consulting Product Management exec and I'm enjoying being back in the saddle immensely. In this engagement I'm both helping to define PM engagement models in a company that's very engineering-led, and also building new-user onboarding flows to help the company scale past its first few users.
RileyCo is a startup that provides custom cooling solutions and ice production systems to Defense and Disaster Relief organizations. I joined the team as a late-add cofounder and am responsible for all aspects of product design, engineering, and manufacturing.
Led the Consumer Experiences product team within the Central Privacy organization. Productized and launched a completely reimagined, people-oriented Privacy Policy that enabled Meta users to comprehend the source document governing what data the company can collect, and what it can do with that data. Created a new Privacy Center that provided guides and other content to help people understand how they can take action to manage their privacy across Meta's platforms. Rationalized confusing controls and policies to make managing your privacy on Meta's surfaces more intuitive.
Initially hired as the Head of Product (later promoted to VP Product & Engineering, and then CPO), I joined when the Company was approximately 20 people with no Product team. I defined Product for Plethora, positioning the team as the champion of the customer, the keeper of the roadmap and the arbiter of resource allocation. I built a highly effective PM team and mentored a junior PM into a Product Line Manager. My team was responsible for 5 distinct products - two of which were highly technical and research driven - that must all interact in very complex ways. This includes an industry leading DFM and pricing tool for arbitrary part designs and an automated manufacturing system, both of which are unique in the world. I was regularly tapped by the CEO to address Plethora's leadership gaps including an expansion of my role to include ownership of the Engineering organization after only 5 months leading Product, and served as an interim factory manager twice as we searched for a permanent owner. As the VP of PM & Engineering I defined individual roles and responsibilities and clarified the relationships between teams, allowing us to make commitments that we are able to meet. I also identified and on-boarded a Director of Engineering who reports to me. As a manager I am committed to both the business and our employees. I make sure my leaders invest in developing our team by supporting both personal and professional development goals. We regularly monitored team health using OfficeVibe and my teams' satisfaction consistently ranks at the top of both the internal and external comparison groups. The progress I drove on the Product and Engineering front supported Plethora in raising two new rounds of funding totaling tens of millions of dollars in new investment.
