My philosophy to education has been developed through experience - through my own teaching, working in a team environment and studying educational theories. The role of the teacher in learning is to act as a facilitator, creating learning experiences that will challenge, engage and encourage their students The role of the student is to have some ownership in their learning, through engaging, collaborating, and building on their own prior knowledge through experiences that the teacher facilitates. If you look into my classroom you will see discussion, group work, student-directed activities, innovative use of technology, an integrated curriculum that encourages thinking, a respectful atmosphere and good rapport amongst the class members.
