I have always had a passion for finding solutions to difficult problems. Tenacity and perseverance are my keys to success. I believe there is no hill too steep to climb. As a Corporate Accounting Intern at Nelnet, I gained firsthand experience filing financial statements for a large public financial services organization. As a manager at a college bar in Lincoln, Nebraska, I learned to communicate in a casual setting and be decisive in a volatile and dynamic environment. As a member of the Big Red Investment Club’s Stock Pitch program, I learned to scrutinize companies based on their objective value and leave emotion at home. I love to learn and have made a life-long commitment to do so. Altruism is my guiding light as I would like to leave a positive impact on this world. I practice positivity in every aspect of my life as I seek to better the lives of those around me. I have never shied away from a conversation and enjoy making new connections and cultivating relationships. After graduating in May 2024, I attended graduate school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and obtained a Master's degree in Professional Accountancy (MPA), meeting the 150 credit hour requirement for CPA licensure in the States of Nebraska and New York. I am in the process of completing my remaining CPA exams while I earn the experience requirement for CPA licensure via Ernst & Young LLP’s FSO Audit/Assurance practice in New York City, NY.
• Maintain investment schedules for available-for-sale and trading securities, including unrealized loss positions, investment maturity tables, bond-interest accruals, and Equity-Method Investments. • Develop footnotes for Nelnet’s financial statements using the investment schedules that I maintain. • Create financial statements for Student Loan Asset-Backed Securities utilizing Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Excel to build work papers, then transfer consolidated data to Workiva's WDesk. • Update and maintain effective internal controls for each accounting function, as required by Sarbanes-Oxley, to reduce the risk of material misstatement to an acceptable level. • Coordinate with management and auditors to plan annual auditor walkthroughs.
• Interact with hundreds of customers nightly, utilizing communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and ensure customer satisfaction. • Responsible for the efficiency of bar operations by maintaining appropriate staffing and inventory levels and working extra hours, as required, to ensure successful operations. • Employ multi-tasking and problem-solving skills throughout the night by managing employees and servicing customers to control the quality of service. • Articulate and implement new ideas, such as drink menus and specials, to attract new customers in a dynamic and competitive college-age market. • Coordinate events that boost revenue by proactively finding and engaging with talent and promoters, then designing those events with budget and capacity considerations.
• Disbursed checks and recorded payments using internal accounting software to facilitate transactions. • Maintained ledgers and journals with appropriate transactions and entries to aid normal business processes. • Reconciled internal accounting records with bank statements to verify their accuracy.
