I work in human performance and physical preparedness for tactical populations where readiness, injury risk, and performance under stress have real consequences. My experience spans military, fire, law enforcement, and collegiate athletics, with roles ranging from hands-on coaching to program leadership and system design. Across these environments, my work has focused on a central problem: how to build physical preparedness that is measurable, defensible, and resilient under operational demand. I currently serve as an Installation Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach, supporting soldier readiness within an integrated human performance framework. Previously, I led and managed human performance programs for large public safety organizations, including fire and police departments, where I oversaw multidisciplinary teams, designed injury prevention initiatives, managed operational budgets, and translated readiness and injury data into actionable recommendations for leadership. Earlier in my career, I supported brigade-level military units within the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) system, led strength and conditioning staffs, and worked directly with commanders to align physical training with operational requirements. I also bring experience from collegiate athletics and clinical rehabilitation settings, which continues to inform my approach to movement quality, load tolerance, and injury risk. My academic training includes a PhD in Health Sciences (Exercise & Sport Science), where my doctoral research examined the impact of integrated human performance initiatives on physical readiness, injury reduction, and resiliency in firefighter populations. This work, combined with graduate training in sports and exercise science and doctoral-level physical therapy coursework, grounds my practice in physiology, biomechanics, and evidence-based decision-making. I hold advanced professional certifications including NSCA-CPSS, CSCCa-SCCC, and NSCA-CSCS, along with credentials in movement assessment, mobility, tactical performance, and research ethics. Certifications inform my practice; outcomes under operational stress validate it. I’m always interested in thoughtful discussion around tactical readiness, injury risk, and building human performance systems that hold up under operational stress. I also share ongoing analysis and long-form writing on these topics through my Substack, with a focus on making readiness operational rather than conceptual.
● Spearhead the development and execution of human performance programs for Baltimore County Fire & Police Departments. ● Lead a team of four on-site specialists, ensuring program alignment with operational and mission-specific needs. ● Designed and implemented the first injury prevention program within the Baltimore County Fire Department, reducing preventable injuries. ● Manage and optimize a $10,000 annual operational budget to enhance training, recovery, and performance initiatives. ● Delivered educational programs on operational resiliency for the Recruit Academy, EMS in-services, and Advanced Fire Rescue Programs.
● Enhance the readiness of all Baltimore County Public Safety (BCoPS) members through providing direct daily oversight of all human performance services. Completed through oversight of 19 Peer Fitness Trainers (PFTs), O2X app integration, and visits to all 25 Baltimore County Fire Department (BCoFD) career stations. ● Responsible for designing and implementing physical training for the BCoFD Fire Recruit Academy (FRA) recruit classes. ● Creates individual or station-based strength and conditioning programs and/or workouts for 3,000+ BCoPS members. ● Collected and consolidated data on BCoFD injury history for all 2020-2023 to establish a comprehensive profile of the number of preventable injuries within the past 3+ years. ● Performed over 700+ fitness evaluations through the O2X Readiness Assessment to help identify the overall physical and mental readiness of BCoFD. Members were assessed via body composition analysis, mobility and capacity analysis, as well as through completing a human performance survey. ● Provide recommendations on human performance initiatives and programs to BCoFD leadership through a cost-justification analysis. Efforts were summarized within a 30-page report which included a detailed analysis on injury history (i.e. the top body regions injured and the corresponding reported activity), the current overall readiness assessment of the entire force, and expected savings (i.e. manpower and budgetary) from recommendation implementation. ● Provide educational consultations and in-service presentations to all Baltimore County Public Safety members on all physical and mental readiness topics in individual 1-on-1 or group settings. ● Conducted workout equipment inventory for the entire Baltimore County Fire Department. Additionally, serves as the primary advisor for future workout equipment purchases for the county.
● Responsible for leading 8 strength and conditioning coaches to support over 2,000 service members within the Sustainment Brigade (SBDE) to prepare Soldier readiness and lethality within the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Human Performance Team at the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum. ● Interdisciplinary integration with other disciplines within H2F Human Performance Team on key initiatives such as the formation of "Unbreakable Warrior Program" for service members who are currently injured and are on profile. ● Manage strength and conditioning department annual equipment budget of $30,000 for SBDE H2F discharge appeal review board (DARB). ● Create and support SBDE events that incorporate the five domains of Soldier readiness - physical, mental, nutritional, spiritual, and sleep. Previous events include the "Get a Grip" Competition and Veteran's Day Powerlifting Competition. ● Primary contact point for improving physical readiness and providing educational resources for SBDE. Partakes in division, brigade, battalion, and company level command meetings to establish working relationships that optimize future collaborative efforts.
● Primary strength and conditioning coach responsible for developing, integrating, and supervising physical training (PT) for over 200 88Ms at DSSB C-Co. PT plans are programmed to be synchronized with brigade and battalion training calendars to optimize service members' battle rhythms and physical readiness. ● Collects information about service members physical attributes through standardized assessments for further data analytics. Observations from brigade in-processing, army combat fitness test (ACFT) scores, and embedded PT protocols are quantified to be reported and communicated to the brigade command team for training meetings. ● Consults with brigade and battalion command teams regarding training plans, PT programming, as well as facility and equipment layouts. Responsible for revamping DSSB C-Co COF into a training environment that can hold over 200 service members during winter months. Training facility has over 10,000 square feet of PT space and over 5,000 square feet of artificial turf for service member utilization. Turf and 2 "gym in a box"/GIBs worth of PT equipment were secured through collaborating with brigade and company command teams. ● Educator for over 2,000 SMs within the sustainment brigade. Resources include classes for non-commissioned officers to become educated leaders such as our PT Extender Course and pregnancy (P3T) Course, as well as physical readiness resources such as supervising the remedial army body composition program (ABCP) and other skill initiatives (i.e. Run Class) for Soldiers.
