I have been in the car business since I was 13 years old. I sold my first car when I was 16 and since going full time in this industry since I was 19 years old I have held the following titles : porter, detailer, parts driver, parts counter, sales associate, secondary finance manager, finance manager, finance director, closer, new car sales manager, general sales manager and general manager. I have worked for a big store a little store and I have also worked in a big city and in a town of 900 people. I know from experience 2 things sell cars the process and the people. I love the car business and I love my family.
I managed all aspects of the sales department
sell cars and stay compliant
typical F&I stuff
After college I packed up my Jeep and headed to AZ. My Jeep decided to die on O st in Lincoln. I knew no one and had zero dollars and anyone who knows my dad knows that ( at that time ) he wasn't hiring family...lol. So I went into a total stranger's dealership and asked for a job in the detail dept. I started the next day and they gave me an old beater to get to work in. Granted I don't know these people from Adam but I am glad I walked into that store. 3 months later I was selling cars. I soon realized that you couldn't make any money in this business unless you headed to F&I first. So after asking my GM ( Bill Haisley ) pretty much once a week for the chance to get in the box he finally pulled me into his office and said ( I will never forget this ) " Ben this is probably the worst mistake I will ever make but get in and start spinning some paper ". I was so green I didn't even know what he met but I knew I was one step closer to my goal. I then had the pleasure of working through the dealership being sold to the Van Tuly Auto group. The last two years here I received the best/most training I have ever been through in the car business. The F&I school their producers/directors go through is the best!
