Over 3 months I assisted directors from the Cities Today Institute to research and execute a Legal Innovation Alliance. A 2026 hosted event with leading figures across in-house legal finance & firms from multiple jurisdictions. This consisted of outreach, interviews and organising the business plan on internal databases.
I had the fantastic opportunity of two weeks work experience in a European leading mid-market, private equity firm. I worked alongside five legal associates, two vice presidents and the legal principle. The experience I had was fantastic. Completing three different training programs in the first week alone gave me knowledge and understanding beyond traditional basic work experience tasks. By contributing my own work to projects undertaken by the wider team and my own singular tasks gave me real responsibility. I reviewed highly confidential due diligence reports, noting my thoughts on potential risk factors to be sent to associates. My work of which quickened the progress of the project by reducing the time commitment of fee earners. I also completed various research tasks for the principle, updating them of fundraising progress by competitor firms in advance of meetings, better informing them of recent updates they did not have time to familiarize themselves with. Proof-read contractual comment responses drafted by the principle to be sent externally, again reducing the workload of fee earners. In addition to completing an internal key terms booklet for a potential investment contribution. A piece of work internally centralising important information previously spread across an extensive limited partnership agreement. The snapshot of a lean, highly responsible team of incredibly talented people, is a hugely valuable experience which will better inform my working responsibilities and path ahead. I'm hugely grateful to Investindustrial and the team for giving me the trust and responsibility to engage in their day to day workflows. In addition to being so welcoming!
