About

Earning an increasingly rare bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering has equipped me with the ability to learn a variety of challenging subjects in mathematics and sciences. Learning about “inorganic, non-metallic substances” may appear to be extremely specific, but it has opened my eyes to how they are used in lives every day. From ceramics and porcelain, to glass and concrete I have learned how these materials act on an atomic scale. All of this is thanks to Alfred University and their facilities. I have researched the beginnings of a new ceramic dielectric for my senior thesis. This allowed me to use my knowledge to manipulate ceramic materials to create different electrical properties in ceramic dielectrics. I have also broadened outside of ceramics and interned at LTI Smart Glass in Pittsfield, MA researching the properties of Liquid Crystal privacy glass. My work brought to light the unknown of the material to this company and potential ways to decrease manufacturing costs. Outside of academics my greatest source of happiness is playing rugby. I was fortunate enough to play all four years at Alfred. Also, I became e a certified coach for my school team and lead them to playoffs while being a player and a full-time student. I was recognized and selected to play for a national all-star team two years in a row representing New England and playing in the finals both years. This game is a great source for teamwork, leadership, and brutal perseverance all of which are necessary skills to know in life.
