I lead the CIO-Office for the Central Staff of the Ministry of Defence, responsible for data strategy, information security, software development and AI governance across both operational and business operations domains. Over the past five years I've developed this capability progressively: establishing the decentralised CIO-office, introducing the CDO function, building a Robotic Process Automation team, and integrating automation and data governance within the Central Staff. My background is in data, 14 years across commercial analytics, BI consulting and public sector transformation, bringing a private sector foundation to a government context where the stakes and constraints are defined by geopolitical volatility and the pace of AI development. I'm currently completing a Modular Executive MBA in Business & IT at Nyenrode, with modules in AI governance, cyber security, process management and business value of technology.
