About

I am an architect and urban designer with professional, and academic research in the field of historical typo-morphological analysis. In my Ph.D. thesis “Patterns of Threshold Spaces in the Historical City of Jeddah” I investigate the relationship between the public spaces and the residential units in the old city of Jeddah. Particularly the threshold spaces between the private realm of the house and the public realm of the street as they are complex moments of social and cultural negotiations and are key in the constitution of “the urban”. My research interest includes urban transformation: use of space, concepts for space, the relationship between the public sphere and the private sphere, and notion of transitions in cities.
