👤I am a Syrian-Spanish sociologist specializing in emotions, forced migration, and post-conflict societies, deeply rooted in Syria’s social and cultural realities. Born and raised in Syria, my lived experience provides authentic insight into the country’s complex dynamics, anchoring both my research and applied work. ⭐After completing my pre-university education in Syria, I pursued higher education in Spain, Germany, and Turkey. I hold a PhD in Sociology funded by the DAAD fellowship. Building on this foundation, I authored and secured the highly competitive Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship for a postdoctoral project examining refugee labor and structural inequalities in the global economy. This accomplishment honed my expertise in research proposal writing, budgeting, and end-to-end project management—including planning, institutional coordination, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Throughout my career, I have also led and managed multidisciplinary field research teams, coordinating complex data collection efforts in challenging contexts to ensure high-quality, reliable findings that inform policy and practice. 🤝My interdisciplinary work bridges rigorous academic research and applied fieldwork, collaborating with international organizations, civil society, and research institutes on critical issues for Syria’s sustainable recovery: transitional justice, civic engagement, collective memory, community resilience, victim-centered documentation, local livelihoods, and social reconstruction. ✅Fluent in Arabic, English, and Spanish, I combine advanced qualitative and mixed-methods research skills with deep contextual understanding. I am passionate about partnering on evidence-based, inclusive initiatives that drive social transformation and recovery in Syria and comparable post-conflict contexts. 🌍I led the research and authored reports with NGOs, widely cited in major international media including BBC, AFP, Anadolu Ajansı, France 24, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Guardian, The Sun, Foreign Affairs, TRT, Al Jazeera, and many others. I am actively seeking collaboration with international organizations committed to Syria’s future, offering strategic research insights, project leadership, and team management expertise to advance impactful and sustainable interventions. ➡️My publications and research activities are available on my ORCID profile: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1149-7553 or in Academia: https://granada.academia.edu/BasemMahmud
