Student Lead on the Medical School's Widening Participation scheme. Every year, Target Medicine helps to mentor over 240 aspiring medical students from WP backgrounds through their applications to medical school. My role included designing the face-to-face and online aspects of the programme, training mentors/volunteers, facilitating large scale events for all participants and designing new events to help students from further afield.
The transition mentor programme helps incoming first year students settle into university life. Within my role I ran weekly tutorials on early preclinical concepts. I was shortlisted for the 'Above and Beyond' award as part of this programme, for my inventive and engaging teaching style.
