Responsible for leading operational and maintenance activities across Midwest Family Ski Resorts’ portfolio of ski areas, including Lutsen Mountains, MN, Granite Peak, WI, and Snowriver, MI. Responsibilities included: • Provided strategic direction, fostered teamwork, and championed safety and operational excellence across multiple departments in three states • Worked alongside on-site teams to ensure a well-maintained fleet of equipment including ski lifts, snowcats, heavy equipment, ATVs, snowmobiles, and over-the-road vehicles • Developed and implemented safety protocols, conducted training, and ensured emergency readiness in partnership with individual resort teams • Oversaw facility maintenance teams, ensured regulatory compliance, established procedures, and facilitated collaboration with mountain maintenance staff • Developed risk management strategies, maintained accurate asset schedules, and collaborated with carriers on claims and insurance coverage • Developed budgets and financial plans, led capital project planning and execution, and coordinated with cross-functional teams to deliver projects successfully
Hired shortly after the acquisition of Indianhead and Blackjack, by Midwest Family Ski Resorts, to lead the integration of the two ski areas into the newly minted company. Developed and refined the resort’s organizational structure alongside cross company leadership to create efficiencies through inter-departmental collaboration across our three resorts. Managed $15 million in capital projects in the first fiscal year including: • The installation of the upper peninsula’s first detachable chairlift • Snowmaking system upgrades and repairs • Extensive renovations of all facilities including lodging, restaurants, day lodges, rental and retail spaces. • Directed teams in rapidly addressing deferred maintenance across all areas of the resort.
Led mountain operations during Giants Ridge’s transition into a true four-season resort, complementing a strong golf business by building out consistent, scalable year-round ski area operations. • Directed lift operations, grooming, snowmaking, terrain, and base area functions with full accountability for safety, reliability, and guest experience • Managed a seasonal workforce of 20–60 employees, aligning staffing models to both winter and summer operations • Led construction and launch of a multi-million dollar lift-served bike park, including 10 downhill trails and 10 miles of XC trail • Supported ~$5M in lift infrastructure projects, ensuring successful operational integration and long-term maintainability • Redesigned beginner terrain to improve progression, accessibility, and guest flow • Partnered on a comprehensive snowmaking master plan that guided future capital investment • Drove operational consistency that contributed to steadily increasing visitation • Virtually eliminated lift downtime by improving maintenance practices and operational discipline
Worked alongside experienced lift mechanics to complete seasonal maintenance on detachable and fixed grip lifts, tows and conveyors. Also assisted in the maintenance, inspection and testing of summer attractions including the Ten Mile Flyer Zip-lines, various climbing walls and ropes courses, the Gold Runner Alpine Coaster, as well as the four lifts utilized for summer operations. • Participated in splice work on various wire rope sizes and construction types. • Rebuilt sheaves and sheave assemblies on various types of Riblet and Leitner Poma lifts. • Operated lifts for line-work. • Completed pre-operation and walk-through inspections for lifts under public operation.
Operate snowcats to groom the snow creating a more enjoyable and uniform skiing surface for guests. Communicate with fellow crew members to coordinate the completion of all assigned terrain for the shift. Lead groups of operators in the efficient grooming of terrain packages. As a summer student maintenance laborer, I worked alongside journeymen pipefitters installing, repairing and performing maintenance on piping, tubing and other various components in an industrial setting.
