Bushra is an award-winning cybersecurity expert and technology leader with over 14 years of experience in academia, industry, and the government sector. She has an outstanding record of leading cross-functional, high-performing teams. With a PhD in Cyber Security from the University of Oxford, she has a strong foundation in both cybersecurity and machine learning, with a deep understanding of the technical and interdisciplinary aspects of the field, as well as a proven track record of applying this knowledge to develop innovative solutions in real-world scenarios. Bushra is an Assistant Professor at King Saud University, where she shares her expertise in cybersecurity and mentors the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. In addition, she has consulted on cybersecurity for various government and private entities, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to enhance their cybersecurity posture. Throughout her career, Bushra has built a robust foundation in cybersecurity, specializing in areas such as malware detection, automation in Security Operation Centers (SOCs), and the application of machine learning in the cybersecurity domain. She is known for developing innovative cybersecurity tools, including MalClassifier and BOTection, which analyze and interpret cybersecurity data, identify trends and patterns, enrich data with cyber threat intelligence, and drive advancements in cybersecurity analytics. Currently, Bushra serves as the Chief Engineer at Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE), where she leads projects in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Her work involves spearheading initiatives that enhance the cybersecurity resilience and defense landscape of Saudi Arabia. She is passionate about leveraging big data analytics and AI to develop cutting-edge solutions for threat detection and response. Bushra actively engages with the broader cybersecurity community through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and representation at international forums such as the Google Cloud Next, USENIX Security, and the Global Cybersecurity Forum. She has published numerous papers in leading cybersecurity conferences and has served as a reviewer for several prestigious publications. Beyond her professional roles, Bushra is committed to advancing women in technology. As the previous president of Oxford Women in Computer Science (OxWoCS) and co-founder of inspireHer!, she has developed national mentorship programs and workshops aimed at increasing women representation in cybersecurity and STEM fields.
