Balaharshitha Anbalagan is an MSc Microelectronics Systems Design student at the University of Southampton, holding a First Class B.Tech. in EEE. Formerly a Firmware Engineer and Deputy Manager at Schneider Electric, she engineered 3 phase smart meter firmware and BLE mesh architectures. Her technical focus spans SystemVerilog RTL development, validation on Cyclone V FPGAs, and simulation-based verification using Cadence Xcelium. Additionally, she has hands on experience in full-custom transistor-level CMOS design and physical layout using Magic for TSMC 180 nm technologies.
-Developed firmware for 3 phase smart meters as a Deputy Manager in Design and Development. Added new features as per customer requirements and made changes in both the firmware according to hardware constraints. -Played a hand in developing a tool that automatically configures changes required in the base firmware according to customer data requirement. - Developed firmware to integrate a BLE module into existing smart meters, implementing GAP peripheral and GATT server profiles to expose metering data as custom characteristics. Enabled data hopping propagation by configuring devices to relay DLMS meter readings across a BLE mesh, reducing dependence on direct optical or wired readout infrastructure
-Developed an in house PC application to remap DLMS/COSEM OBIS codes within smart meter datasets in compliance with Indian metering standards, eliminating the need to establish a physical optical port connection via IEC 62056-21 each time a code reassignment was required.
Gained hands on exposure to industrial automation systems at C.R.I. Pumps Pvt. Ltd., including SCADA supervisory control, PLC ladder logic programming, and sensor integration for pump monitoring and control applications.
