London Area, United Kingdom
I have recently transitioned into the new role of Sustainability Officer for the UMIDB. In this role, my main responsibilities include managing enforcements, consents and enquiries, as well as commenting on planning applications within our Internal Drainage District (IDD) and watershed catchment area. My department is currently in the process of expanding into a Sustainability department, led by myself, to encompass conservation and resilience, as well as flood risk management. These new responsibilities include managing INNS within the IDD and watershed catchments, creating actions using our BAP in conjunction with the LNRSs for Surrey and Kent & Medway, engaging with key stakeholders/landowners and leading a new committee that will make decisions on conservation, land drainage consent applications and use of our NFM & Conservation Fund. Outside of work, I volunteer with the Riverfly Partnership Scheme, which involves monthly riverfly kick sample surveys, and the KWT River Search programme, which is a citizen science project involving monthly water quality testing (nitrate and phosphate levels). I also volunteer for the Wildwood Trust, which involves educating the public on the animals in the park, as well as the charity's conservation and rewilding efforts.
Role has transitioned to encompass planning (consents, enforcements, planning comments and public enquiries), as well as overseeing corporate sustainability KPIs, flood resilience, supporting river biodiversity and resilience
