I have worked for the past 15 years in the intersection of AI and News. As an academic I specialise in AI and Journalism, AI Literacy, Responsible and Ethical AI, and Data-driven Storytelling. I am the founding Chair of the European Data & Computational Journalism Conference, and in this capacity I help foster a space where academic and industry experts come together to shape the future of AI and News. I regularly advise news and media organisations on AI integration, policy and strategy. I offer consultancy services in the following areas: AI Strategy & Policy for Journalism & Media: Strategic assessment and planning on integrating AI in the news and media industry, supported by the latest research and industry practices. Development and implementation of AI policies and guidelines for newsrooms and media organisations. AI Literacy and Training: Advise news organisations on their literacy and training programmes and/or provide tailored training programmes to build AI capabilities and understanding within newsrooms. Responsible use of AI: Advising on the responsible deployment of AI technologies in news and media. Mentoring: Mentoring journalists and teams on the integration of AI tools into newsroom workflows.

Appointed to the Government of Ireland’s Open Data Governance Board by the Minister of State, Patrick O’Donovan. The Open Data Governance Board provides strategic leadership and governance in line with best international practice in the area of Open Data. It is tasked with considering how to improve the capacity and capability of public bodies in implementing Open Data, and considering opportunities to maximise the value of public sector data and information for long-term economic, social and democratic benefits. The board makes recommendations to the Irish Government in this regard.
