Context: Automation and orchestration in the context of SDN/NFV Description: With the promises of flexibility and agility that promote SDN and NFV, the need for orchestration and automation is higher than ever. In this context, my mission is to evaluate ONAP (Open Network Automation Platform) as a strategic tool enabling automation of life cycle management operations of network services and functions, and focusing on network controllers and service orchestrator as key modules of this platform. To reach this objective, different tasks should be performed: - Study of orchestration: scope, relation with OSS/BSS, existing solutions (Cisco NSO, Ciena BluePlanet ...) - Analysis of ETSI-NFV specifications IFA & SOL (MANO architecture, VNF Descriptor, NS Descriptor, Interfaces and APIs) - Implementation of the virtual Firewall close loop use-case (vFWCL) with ONAP with a potential technical contribution to the ONAP community - Study of service life cycle automation processes in ONAP: onboarding, distribution, deployment, monitoring and close loop actions. - Analysis of service and virtual function modeling specifications. - In-depth study of Service Orchestration and SDN-Controller modules in relation with the automation processes Keywords: - NFV, SDN, WAN, LAN, VPN, vFW - OSS/BSS architectures, Service order management, CFS, RFS, RS - ONAP, ETSI-NFV MANO, VNFD, NSD - TOSCA, HOT, YANG, BPMN, Directed Graph - UML, REST API, Postman, linux
