- Oversee and provide guidance on the administration and programme work of the Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU), ensuring close coordination and teamwork with all parts of the Mission throughout the country. - Provide advice and support on strategic planning: ensuring understanding and compliance with the OHCHR Management Plan (OMP), OHCHR policies as well as the use of sound results-based management concepts. - Liaise with HQ, with regards to planning, fundraising documents, and reporting, and following up on staffing & administrative issues, cost plans & financial authorizations. - Ensure efficient management of human resources and general administration: ensure that all initiatives and actions relating to human resource are in line with UN rules and procedures, and provide advice to staff and managers on human resources issues; implement and monitor all support services. - Ensure monitoring and reporting on the Office's implementation and performance. - Coordinate the drafting of the Office's Mid-Year Review, advise on changes to be made and coordinates the End-of-Year Management Report. - Liaise with local donors, maximizes resource allocation and delivery; ensures dissemination and use of tools, policy directives and lessons learned developed by OHCHR. - Ensure financial resources are efficiently managed: acting as Finance and Budget focal point for the HRMMU and as Principal Certifying Officer to ensure that all expenses incurred are in line with the UN Financial Regulations. - Monitor and control budgetary allocations through regular reviews and providing monitoring reports. Identify deviations from plans and proposes corrective measures; establishes and maintains a set of sound policies, procedures, standards and tools which are consistent with UN policy and practice in order to ensure proper budget management and control.
- Contributed to the elaboration of project documents for the Human Rights Profiling Project (HRPP) and other projects, including logical frameworks, work plans and cost plans. - Monitored and evaluated UNJHRO projects, with a view to assessing project results and impacts. Also monitored project implementing partners through their financial records, beneficiary interviews, archiving systems and overall assessment of the NGOs. - Managed recruitment processes at all stages: developing terms of references and job descriptions, screening, setting up test review and interview panels, and then managing the onboarding process in conjunction with DFS and OHCHR Human Resources colleagues. - Managed all donor relations and reporting obligations, including drafting donor reports and project proposals, providing guidance on reporting requirements to project staff. Donors include, among others, the governments of US, Netherlands, South Korea, and Brazil, development agencies USAID (US), DFID (UK), SIDA (Sweden), and CIDA/MAECD (Canada), and international NGOs. - Liaised with project teams, unit coordinators, project coordinators, Director, Deputy Director, MONUSCO, OHCHR, UNDP and donors to meet their information needs and to ensure their synergy for effective implementation of projects. - Supervised the Profiling Project administrative assistant in order to manage logistics, transport, office space and equipment and any other administrative matters as required for the Human Rights Profiling Project (HRPP). - Focal point on the Results Based Budgeting process, Global OHCHR 4-year strategic program, and the UN Development Assistance Framework, all of which make up UNJHRO strategy. - Supported Financial Officers to ensure the efficient and transparent use of contributions to the HRPP and other human rights projects. - Undertake missions to field offices, as necessary, on all aspects of project support and administration.
• Participated in the drafting of project documents and workplans of both the MONUSCO and OHCHR projects managed by the Joint Human Rights Office (JHRO) in the DRC. • Conducted briefings/inductions for project staff, as well as other JHRO staff on how projects tie in with broader strategies of the JHRO and MONUSCO, and link to the Results Based Budgeting process and Global OHCHR Expected Accomplishments. • Advised and supported JHRO project teams on drafting logical frameworks for projects. • Oversaw the different JHRO teams in drafting and managing OHCHR cost plans and budgets. • Participated in monitoring and evaluation with a view to assessing project results and impacts. • Provided guidance on narrative and financial reporting requirements to project staff, and drafted donor reports when required. • Monitored and analyzed expenses and guided project staff in the field on all aspects of project management, ensuring that activities are in line with the project logical frameworks, key milestones are met, and suggested adjustments when necessary. • Prepared documentation for project approval, as necessary and in accordance with the procedures of decision making bodies within OHCHR, MONUSCO and UNDP. • Undertook missions to field offices on all aspects of project support and administration.
• Assisted national counterparts regarding logistics matters in the collection and analysis of information regarding registration compounds, storage facilities, communications and support available for election preparations. • Contributed to building a synergistic work relationship with counterparts and local stakeholders. • Produced daily and weekly reports to stakeholders regarding the electoral situation in DRC. • Assisted in ensuring efficient vote tabulation and management of electoral complaints to the local counterpart and the Electoral Section. • Organized meetings with key social authorities, national and international stakeholders, government officials and civil society. • Assisted in civic education, information and motivation of eligible voters regarding the registration as well as the electoral process and provide specific information about selected aspects of registration and the electoral process. • Provided support to the Electoral Section Director and Deputy Director as needed.
• Played a key role in the expansion and strengthening of the Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative: an international initiative that engages young leaders from diverse sectors around the Asia-Pacific region and the United States to tackle issues of responsible leadership, governance, civil society development, the environment and climate change, social entrepreneurship, gender issues and other issues of mutual concern. • Developed guidelines and procedures for the implementation of all Asia 21 activities, including: overseeing the nomination and selection process of Fellows and Delegates, now a network of over 650 leaders; organizing three annual Asia 21 international programs conference of between 50-200 people; developing and managing the budget of US$500,000; identifying funding sources and preparing proposals to obtain funding (including grants to USAID). • Facilitated the Asia 21 Public Service Award, an annual award of $10,000 given to an organization which benefits underprivileged social and economic groups in the Asia-Pacific region. Managed the selection process, the awards ceremony, and subsequent monitoring of the program. • Managed the Asia 21 websites, created a social networking website, and oversaw the corresponding blogs and twitter accounts. • Successfully managed qualified candidates within the Global Policy Initiatives Internship program. Held responsibility for recruiting, training and supervision of all candidates. • Planned over 40 policy events to educate and inform, including assisting in the planning and execution of the United Nations General Assembly programs (high-level panel discussions and speeches with high-level Asian dignitaries in New York for UNGA) and managing the Food Crisis Series. • Supported the Global Policy Initiatives team with fundraising and developing and executing programs including Fellowships, Task Forces, and Conferences.
• Program assistant to Director of the HIV/AIDS and Global Health Initiatives, and then to Director of Asian Social Issues Program. • Planned over 30 public health, policy and social issues events to educate and inform; organized movie screenings, luncheons, and panel discussions. • Assisted in organizing the Asian Dialogue on HIV/AIDS Conference in Iran, including recruit speakers and manage logistics. • Liaised with speakers and partners for future events.
