I’m a results-driven engineer and science communicator with 9+ years of experience tackling complex technical challenges and making cutting-edge ideas accessible to diverse audiences. With a background in engineering, education, and emerging technologies, I bring a unique problem-solving perspective. Recently, I earned my M.S. in Computer Science, researching Artificial Intelligence, and authored Balancing Art and Science, a thesis exploring the ethical use of AI in art and creative fields. Previously, as a Data Conversion Engineer, I facilitated access to electrical engineering data for technical and non-technical teams, developed Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation, and trained new employees. Now, as a part-time Navy Reserve officer, I’m mastering leadership for mission-critical systems for ship and submarine repairs while also applying my communication skills as a STEM-focused substitute teacher. Commissioned as an EDO with Naval Sea Systems Command’s SurgeMain Minneapolis, training to support sailors in preparing for ship, aircraft, and submarine repairs. As the Unit Operations Department Division Officer, I manage the collection and analysis of operational data, oversee deployability, and coordinate unit missions. This role has strengthened my technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.
As a Minnesota Astronomical Society (MAS) patron member I have had the opportunity to combine my love of astronomy, and my love of writing in order to contribute to the Gemini Magazine publication; hopefully inspiring the reader to go outside, look up and gaze upon the wonders of our universe.
Led data conversion projects for clients from various industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical, and computer networking, ensuring their data was accurately translated into usable formats. Helped the company achieve ISO 9001 certification by developing and implementing Quality Measurement System files and reports accessible company-wide, ensuring accountability in the processes, including ITAR projects. Trained new engineers, answered questions, and created documentation to standardize procedures, streamlining operations and improving accuracy.
For three years I enjoyed the opportunity to assist fellow students in subject matter that I consider myself to have an advanced degree of knowledge in. These subjects included Calculus, Physics, Electronic Circuits, and Digital Systems. I believe this experience was valuable in teaching me the importance of being a team player and helping out your peers in areas where you can lend a productive hand.
