I started the Willy Korf Foundation http://www.korfsteel.com after the successful sale of my father’s company in the year 2000. One of our aims is to support young academics in the steel industry. We present an annual award, the Willy Korf Award for Young Excellence alongside the prestigious Willy Korf/Ken Iverson Steel Vision Award in NewYork at the previously called Steel Success Strategies and now called Global Steel Dynamics Forum conference. All details you can see on the website. Our further aim is to use our foundation as an independent platform to promote the discussion around the production of “green steel”. This is how the idea of “The GREEN STEEL CHALLENGE” podcast was born. We want to create awareness about the importance of steel in everyday life. We also would like to get young people back into the industry. We got a great response from international industry leaders.
