Hi! My name is Ashley Flores and I am a recent UCLA graduate with a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. My background includes both academic research and industry experience in DNA workflows, next-generation sequencing, and other laboratory techniques. Outside of my professional interests, I am a curious explorer who is always discovering hidden gems in California. I also enjoy baking, traveling, and attending sport events in Los Angeles. Feel free to contact me regarding any opportunities!
Conducted a research project in the Pellegrini Lab investigating age-related DNA methylation changes in mice treated with a metabolic inhibitor. I carried out DNA extraction from hair follicles, bisulfite conversion, and library preparation for whole-genome bisulfite sequencing
At Prosper DNA, I worked as a Laboratory Technician supporting NGS workflows for consumer genetic testing. I processed canine and human biological samples, performing DNA extraction, quantification, normalization, and library preparation to generate high-quality libraries for Illumina sequencing platforms. My responsibilities included ensuring correct fragment sizing, adapter ligation, and indexing. I also managed customer portal updates, helping monitor the progress of samples throughout the testing pipeline.
