I am Ashley Flores, a Mexican-American student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Criminal Justice with a GPA of 3.65. I am expected to graduate in June 2026, and I am completing a Spanish Legal Translation and Interpreting Certificate. - Evaluate individuals for safety, assess their needs, and assist in navigating the shelter and permanent housing system. - Document client engagements, area reports, and special assignments in the relevant DHS databases. - Canvass, engage, and be a presence in specific areas with a high concentration of unsheltered clients.
- Provide appropriate supervision at all times to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of program participants. -Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences. -Prepare the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities. Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of the camp room, program supplies, and activity space.
- Assist in coaching participants on resumes, interviewing skills, and job searches. - Help connect the participants with education, employment, and internship opportunities. - Maintain accurate case notes and track progress in internal systems (under the supervision of Job Developers and Supervisors).
- Apply for 10+ internships to the designated Career Hub Match. - Attend InPlace and Career Eco technical training to prepare for internship interviews. - Work in a selected internship, attend meetings, and collaborate on group projects.
- Management consulted a 3-day training in case interviews and consulting skill-building. - Anatomy of a case interview with a breakdown of frameworks to solve business problems. - Engaged in networking, site visits, and employer information sessions to understand the roles, recruiting timeline, requirements, and professional trajectory.
