Developing brain-computer interface devices per design control requirements and guided by system engineering principles. Designing and fabricating prototypes using CAD and prototyping tools, and managing manufacturing activities for parts and assemblies. Managing timelines and deliverables for preclinical testing of prototypes in small and large animal models. Gathering stakeholder needs to ensure fast product adoption. Executing clinical trials, including drafting of clinical documentation, management of manufacturing and testing activities, and planning and logistics for trials.
Working in a multi-faceted role as a materials scientist and product development associate. I work with a team to develop a novel ultrasoft elastomer as a component of a depth electrode for use in a brain-machine interface (BMI). In addition, I work with the CEO and CTO to develop the company's marketing and regulatory strategy.
Led the development of a light-activated hydrogel adhesive component of a medical device intended to seal intracardiac defects, such as patent foramen ovale (PFO). Participated in broader strategy and product development activities related to device and experimental design for product validation.
My PhD project involved designing and characterizing novel conductive, elastic and cell-adhesive hydrogels for applications in regenerative medicine. In addition, I developed hydrogel formulations and microfabrication techniques to optimize them for three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting of complex tissue-mimetic structures.
Acted as student leader of the Alpha Fund, an initiative to provide early-stage technology ventures with prototype funding and mentorship to launch their tech venture from the bench to market. Performed technological feasibility studies and market due diligence for highly technical projects.
Origin was founded with the idea of pulling exciting and cutting-edge technology from the lab to market. As both an educational and funding providing entity, we accelerated the commercialization of technologies in diverse spaces, including energy systems, digital health platforms, biometrics, implant fabrication, drug screening platforms, wireless communication, high-speed transportation, and many others.
