Ammonia is at the centre of one of the most consequential industrial transformations of our time. The shift from grey to blue and green, the emergence of ammonia as a hydrogen carrier, the convergence of CBAM, ETS reform, and new maritime fuel regulation — these are not future scenarios. They are happening now, and they are reshaping a value chain I have spent more than 20 years navigating from every angle. My career spans the full ammonia and fertilizer value chain — from production and plant operations through procurement, trading, and commercial strategy to sales and customer relationships. I have been a member of senior management teams at board level, with accountability for strategy, transformation, and the negotiation of multi-billion dollar agreements with the world's leading producers, technology providers, and industrial customers across Europe and globally — including board-level involvement in the structuring of strategic partnerships and M&A transactions. What I bring is rare: the combination of deep technical and operational credibility with the commercial and strategic experience to lead at the highest level. I understand ammonia not as a molecule in an engineering diagram, but as a commodity, a feedstock, a decarbonization vector, and increasingly as an energy carrier — and I have the relationships across the value chain to navigate that complexity at scale. The transition underway in this industry requires leaders who have lived it from the inside — who can translate regulatory pressure into commercial strategy, who understand what it takes to move from aspiration to execution at scale, and who can build the partnerships and structures that make transformation real rather than theoretical. LAT Nitrogen is one of Europe's leading nitrogen fertilizer producers, operating at the intersection of agricultural value chains and the accelerating industrial decarbonization transition. As Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer and member of the senior management team, I lead the company's strategic agenda across business development, transformation, and positioning for the structural shifts reshaping the European ammonia and fertilizer market — driven by CBAM, ETS reform, REDIII, and the emergence of green and blue ammonia as credible industrial pathways. Key achievements: Led multiple restructuring programs delivering significant EBITDA improvement across LAT Nitrogen's European operations. Defined and led LAT Nitrogen's ammonia strategy — positioning the business at the forefront of the decarbonization transition amongst European fertilizer producers, and unlocking emerging market opportunities in ammonia bunkering and cracking.
Led the definition of a standalone business strategy for the carved-out fertilizer business — subsequently established as LAT Nitrogen — laying the commercial, operational, and strategic foundations for an independent European fertilizer producer operating within the AGF ecosystem. Key achievements: Conducted a comprehensive market review and defined the go-to-market approach for the new standalone entity, establishing product portfolio strategy and asset positioning across the European fertilizer market. Defined asset strategy including introduction of new product grades, implementation of new IT tools and AI-driven capabilities, and integration into the broader AGF group ecosystem — building the operational and commercial infrastructure of a newly independent business from the ground up.
Appointed Interim Chief Transformation Officer to lead the transformation agenda of Borealis Fertilizer Business during the most significant transaction in Borealis' fertilizer history. Key achievement: Co-led the successful sale of Borealis' entire fertilizer business to AGF at a transaction value of €800M+, one of the largest fertilizer M&A transactions in Europe in recent years. Led the asset stream within the transaction — managing the full scope of asset-related due diligence, valuation, and transfer across multiple European production sites — while maintaining operational continuity throughout the process and bringing the transaction to successful completion.
Led asset development strategy across Borealis' European fertilizer portfolio with accountability for capital strategy, M&A execution, integration management, and technology transactions across a portfolio generating an additional ~€1 billion in annual revenue and 2 million tonnes of production capacity. Key achievements: Defined and implemented asset development strategies across Borealis' full European fertilizer portfolio, guiding investment decisions, portfolio positioning, and long-term value creation across multiple sites and geographies. Led and co-led acquisition and integration of five major European fertilizer assets — GPN (Grandpuits and Grand Quevilly, France), Rosier (Netherlands and Belgium), and Pec-Rhin (Ottmarsheim, France) — from due diligence through to operational integration. Combined portfolio: ~€1 billion revenue, 2 million tonnes capacity. Developed a risk-based capital prioritisation framework deployed across Borealis' European fertilizer and polyolefin businesses, enabling NPV/IRR-driven investment decisions across one of Europe's largest chemical portfolios. Executed carve-out and M&A transfer of fertilizer and nitric acid technology (ANNA) to Casale, building a track record of complex technology M&A transactions alongside the earlier melamine technology carve-out.
Lurgi is one of the world's most respected engineering and technology companies in syn-gas, methanol, and refinery plant technology — the foundation of the global nitrogen value chain. Led the development of a new melamine production technology targeting the European market, taking it from concept through to successful commercial implementation. This work established both the technical foundation and the market credibility that has informed every subsequent commercial and strategic role across the ammonia and fertilizer value chain.
