I have a strong background in academic administration, program development, and quality assurance, with more than 25 years of experience in various positions at reputable universities in the Middle East and Canada. I hold certifications from Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Manitoba in management and leadership in higher education. I am passionate about advancing the academic excellence and innovation of GUtech and fostering a culture of efficient and effective teaching and learning.
Responsibilities: • Report directly to the Board of Governors • Provide academic, administrative and financial leadership in defining and achieving the strategic goals of the University • Oversee the teaching and learning processes of the University (incl. digitization of education) • Supervise and develop academic programs • Supervise Deans and Heads of Academic Departments • Lead the Department of Registry and Student Affairs and the Library • Coordinate the academic staffing for the programs offered • Develop, promote and monitor a culture of efficient and effective teaching and learning • Ensure quality assurance of teaching and learning • Develop regulations and policies relevant to academic matters, in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University and in accordance with the guidelines of the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation • Contribute to the formulation of budgets required to achieve the academic goals of the University • Provide academic supervision of external educational projects • Represent GUtech on external education-related panels and committees
Supervision of PhD and MSc students
Responsibilities: • Leadership of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research which has approx. 1,800 graduate students and 80 graduate programs • Restructuring of the graduate enterprise into a more decentralized organization • All aspects of graduate student recruitment, admission, registration, scholarships, graduation, convocation and graduate program development • Fiscal responsibility for all aspects of the University’s graduate enterprise, including internal and external scholarships • Establishment and maintenance of all graduate-level partnerships with third parties and other universities • As a member of the University Leadership Team, responsible for participating actively in the development and execution of its strategic plan and enterprise risk management program
