I am a passionate scientist, who loves to understand how things work. I really like photons and electrons, but also holes and ions. I like perfect crystals, but prefer (intentional) defects. My group and I take an interdisciplinary approach to developing optoelectronic materials and devices (LEDs, solar cells, lasers). Our main focus is on colloidal nanomaterials. We study the entire chain from synthesis to device and use the feedback between these topics to advance my research. And I teach all this in various courses at TU Delft.
The Young Academy is a dynamic and innovative group of top young scientists and scholars with outspoken views about science and scholarship and the related policy. The Young Academy organises inspiring activities for various target groups focusing on interdisciplinarity, science policy, and the interface between science and society.
