About

I completed my Master’s degree in Biology at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany) and earned my Ph.D. at the Institute of Cell Biology at the University Hospital Essen (Germany). I continued my academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at the Randall Institute of King’s College London, supported by an International Research Fellowship from the Wellcome Trust. Beyond collaborating with outstanding scientists, I greatly valued the open and highly interactive culture of this prestigious institute, located in one of Europe’s most international cities. Following my postdoctoral work, I became Head of the Research Group within the Department of Endocrinology at the University Hospital Düsseldorf (Germany). Shortly thereafter, I joined Peppermint VenturePartners in Berlin as an Investment Analyst for Life Sciences, where I was immediately impressed by the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the European life sciences industry. For more than 25 years now, I have been actively involved in the European venture capital sector. I spent the majority of this time at NRW.BANK in Düsseldorf, where I played a key role in building the bank’s entire venture capital practice and managed a life sciences portfolio of more than 35 companies. I first met the BiomedVC team at an exclusive life sciences event in Switzerland at the end of 2022 and was immediately impressed by the team’s scientific enthusiasm and the clear investment focus of their new fund, BMI IV, which was then in preparation. Through subsequent discussions, I became fully convinced of the new Biomed setup and decided to join BiomedVC as Managing Partner. Shortly thereafter, we successfully achieved the first closing of the BMI IV fund. While fundraising is still ongoing, the Biomed team has already begun building an exceptional portfolio of young and highly promising life sciences companies. My current board assignments at Biomed include T-CURX and iOnctura (iDEL). Throughout my career in venture capital, I have had the privilege of leading early financing rounds. I have also had the opportunity to support these companies and their talented management teams as a board member. - Emergence, acquired by Eli Lilly in 2023 - CEVEC, acquired by Cytiva in 2022 - Scienion, acquired by CELLINK in 2020 - Rigontec, acquired by MSD in 2017 - Direvo, acquired by Bayer in 2008
