    Founded and operated this studio since 2005. Originally a mobile business, then under the auspices of the Creative Music Academy in 2008. The Orpheus' Studio vision was to develop sound ways to inspire and develop future musicians, rooted in the belief that early study of music contributes to the sound development of children, exerting its healing power into adulthood. Key contributions: The well-rounded preparation of students wishing to pursue conservatory studies in music, offering instruction in piano technique, solfege, theory, and elements of music history. Created custom-made curriculum for each student, utilizing Montessori and hands on activities especially at the beginner level. Prepared pupils for entry and performance in quarterly and annual festivals at the local and at the state level. Remained an active member of the Rappahannock Music Society, and their Vice President for the 2013-4 term, she lectured on Music Pedagogy, and represented this group as their PR Representative, assisting with networking for publication of their activities. Organised, advertised and put up quarterly performances to showcase her students’ work at CMA. Edited and published a monthly Newsletter for Orpheus's Music Studio. This publication served as an instructional tool containing extended learning activities for the students and featuring a parent corner, which provided the involved parent with ways to remain engaged in their child's musical development.

Key contributions: Received commendation by Dr. Esther Yook, the Korean Exchange Program Director, for “reaching and teaching” UMW exchange-students. As a recognition for her successful teaching strategies and practices, she was invited to participate in the Teaching Improvement Program of the university. A tape containing her special teaching techniques was recorded in the Fall of 2008 semester and is now archived at UMW to be shared at faculty workshops and during student orientation sessions. Utilized a variety of instructional techniques such as staging to the text, and bringing art and music to bear on the literary analyses of the texts presented. Coordinated travel arrangements for her pupils to visit performances of the plays studied in Washington D.C. at the Arena Stage and at the Folger Library/filed quarterly expense reports for the university. Commissioned a professional Shakespearian actor to present to her class a step by step script analysis of the characters she portrayed on stage. These informative seminars helped spark students' interest in the plays, and were followed by informal Q & A sessions, during which they could ask anything they wanted about the life and preparation of an actor, and the professional world of theatre. Remained active in research and a member of scholarly organisations. Prepared a grant proposal for her students to visit Ancient Greek Theatres in Greece, and submitted it for review. Collaborated closely with university colleagues and administration regarding students, their advising, textbook requisition, and professional development. Oversaw the production of one-act scene performances put up by the students.
