Member of the management team of the location Trimet Aluminium Essen, an integrated aluminium smelter with casting operations, producing 300.000 t/a of aluminium products. Voerde Aluminium GmbH is an integrated smelter formerly owned by Tata Steel/Corus/Hoogovens. Responsible for the operational activities of the business unit Finished Products; casthouse production in 4 shifts, maintenance, logistics & production scheduling, customer support & quality management, dross & scrap recycling. It produces extrusion billets, rolling ingots and foundry alloys, in total 125.000 t/a and has 135 employees. Member of the management team. • Responsible for LEAN implementation, part of the Corus Operational Excellence program: 11.000 t casthouse capacity increase in 2½ years, margin improvement 2 M€ per annum. • Program manager for several cost saving programs in order to survive in a for central European aluminium smelters economically unfriendly environment: e.g. Project_200, cost savings of 200 €/t. • Chairman of the intercompany casthouse process improvement group with the companies Aldel in Delfzijl and ZALCO in Vlissingen. • Project manager for the implementation of casthouse automation: Transition of manual to automated casting with strong impact on the role and competencies of the operators.
