Hi, I’m Arayna Saxena, a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech with a keen interest in the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). I’m passionate about leveraging AI to design intuitive, user-centered systems that enhance human experiences and solve meaningful problems. - Investigated and optimized Isolated Sign Language Recognition (ISLR) models for the PopSign game (Google & NTID sponsored), enhancing real-time ASL vocabulary classification for 5-sign and 10-sign recognizers as part of staged vocabulary scaling. - Improved ML pipelines (Python, PyTorch), addressing high offline–low in-game accuracy gaps by auditing data quality (drop-frame analysis, confusion matrices) and implementing temporal smoothing, boosting accessibility for hard of hearing children. - Applied data augmentation strategies and hyperparameter tuning to increase model robustness across diverse signing styles, supporting long-term expansion to 63+ sign vocabularies. - Collaborated in an interdisciplinary team (machine learning, mobile app dev, HCI) to build scalable AI solutions addressing language deprivation risks among deaf and hard-of-hearing population.
