I am the Senior Research Coordinator of the Maximise Support for Breastfeeding project at University College Cork. I completed my PhD thesis on biofuels policy to the School of Engineering at University College Cork. During my PhD I was affiliated with the Environmental Research Institute, UCC and Science Foundation Ireland MaREI Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine research. My PhD focused on how European Policy will influence the development of a renewable gas industry in Ireland. Throughout my PhD I was an active science communicator, creating social media content such as Dance your PhD, and participating in competitions and open days. Prior to undertaking my PhD, I was based in Lebanon as part of the UNICEF co-ordination team responding to the Syria Crisis. In my early career I worked as an engineer and transport planner in both public and private sector organisations.
I managed an SFI Discover Project to promote Cybersecurity careers to young people and was co-lead of the SFI National Challenge Fund Cyber Safety project which aims to tailer cybersecurity advice for vulnerable populations. I was also a member of the MTU Academic Council.
My research has focused on the best end use for renewable gas considering emissions policies. My most recent paper considers the just transition implications for decarbonising infant formula.
