Assigned on a long term project for Duke Energy, working as an IBM Maximo technical consultant / developer. The job involves mainly the analysis and implementation of new functionalities within IBM Maximo Asset Management Suite, as well as gathering requirements from end users, advising other members on approaches for new technical solutions and ensuring that changes are correctly documented and communicated within the team. These enhancements were usually implemented through the extension of the suite’s native Java classes and supported by both RM (a JavaScript based language developed for Maximo) and Maximo's native customizing application (xml based).
Java Developer responsible for the analysis, designing and implementation of J2EE web systems. I was specifically hired to redesign an existing project for a web application dealing with the Agency’s contract bindings. After gathering missing requirements from the end users, I proposed a new MVC architecture, adapting its DAO persistence layer to take advantage of the Agency’s existing PL/SQL structure. I also redesigned its presentation layer giving it a more dynamic look and feel through the use of JSF+RichFaces (AJAX). Among other tasks, I proposed and developed a group of web services that exposed the Agency’s database to several internal apps, thus freeing other developers from accessing the database directly. J2EE technologies used include JSP, JSF, Web Services and JDBC as well as the development and maintenance of Stored Procedures (Pl/SQL).
Some of the projects I got involved in: TECHNICAL CONSULTANT / DEVELOPER - BERLITZ LANGUAGE SCHOOL After engaging with the client to learn their main needs, I devised and proposed a solution to their timetabling problem. The system, developed in 3 layers (using Flash, Java, JXTA and Web Services) generated instructor's schedules daily, taking into account a large number of restrictions. It managed to reduce the total computing time by making use of parallel computing through a component implemented on JXTA. The system was able to cut the time taken to generate these timetables – which were done manually at that time – from 2 hours to around 5 minutes. WEB CONSULTANT / DEVELOPER - NEYDE LEONE ART GALLERY Took on the project of redesigning the client’s web presence. I developed a virtual art gallery for the arts trader. Most of its concept had to be implemented from scratch given the fact that one of the client’s requests was that its interface had to be straight forward but also stand out from what was readily available at the time. It should also be built in a way as to accommodate an easy update by the gallery’s administrator, since its collection was constantly changing. WEB DEVELOPER - MARCELO GOMES DANCER Marcelo Gomes, a Brazilian ballet dancer who performs with the American Ballet Theater, needed to review his web presence. I worked in alliance with Marcelo’s agency, proposing and developing Marcelo’s web presence. The solution demanded the implementation of new components so that the GUI had an original, attractive and engaging look while keeping it simple to the user. Developed in Flash and MySQL. MULTIMIDIA DEVELOPER - MT2 The client, a Brazilian Railway Magazine consulted us in need of a multimedia companion to their magazine. I worked with the agency’s team to gather the client's requirements and develop a custom, engaging, Multimedia CD-Rom that contained the summary of all the presentations and talks given during the event.
