Civil Engineering professional with 20+ years of experience optimizing and delivering large‑scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the world. Currently managing global civil engineering operations for wind, PV and BESS, while bringing a strong foundation from all-around infrastructure construction. My background spans wide variety of infrastructure projects in different roles and project phases. From my previous positions I have e.g. delivered site execution in technically demanding and safety‑critical (many times urban) environments, obtained broad experience working with different construction contract types and managed major cost estimation & tendering processes. In my latest position I specialize in maximizing enterprise value while minimizing the costs by optimizing design and construction concepts during the development and procurement phases — whether for site infrastructure, execution strategies or risk management to name a few. I'm an experienced people leader with a hands‑on mindset, comfortable operating from early project development and procurement through investment and construction phases. I'm known for seeing the big picture, focusing on what truly drives cost and value, and building efficient, scalable processes for all types of cross-scientific and/or multinational teams. I'm passionate about making sure right things are done at the right time, identifying the right inputs and outputs in the processes. I'm always applying latest top class engineering principles to support the energy transition in a commercially sound and environmentally responsible way. With the knowledge in AI (which I've studied in open university) and Python, I have incorporated AI into daily use and have a good understanding in where it should and where it shoudn't been used in business. Outside work, I enjoy sports and the outdoors — sometimes combining both with engineering, like running a marathon while planning a wind farm layout. I'm fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English.
Management of the global civil engineering department with overall responsibility for leading and developing civil engineering processes and teams in wind, PV and BESS technologies. Accountable for people management (including e.g. goal setting, performance review, salary processes, recruitment, and staff wellbeing) globally across all our markets. Responsible for ensuring optimal allocation of internal and external resources to meet project and business objectives. Actively driving technical excellence by developing team competencies, sharing best practices and maintaining “best-in-class” standards. Owner of the technical requirements in contracts and implementation of new technical solutions and safety improvements. Further adaptation of processes in the transformation of the company into an IPP and into new markets (also outside Europe). Personally managing the civil engineering scope in around 1,1 GW of projects reaching FC.
Add-on to the Construction Engineer position below, leading the civil engineering team consisting of several civil engineers in several countries. Expansion from onshore wind to also PV and BESS technologies. The team leader position added the responsibility of coordination of civil engineering resources, coordination of the corporate development tasks related to civil engineering, mentoring the team members and of course keeping up the excellent team spirit! Built the actual civil engineering department into a team with several civil engineers in several countries. Created and standardized the company-wide processes and management tools for the civil engineering scope. Personally managing the civil engineering scope in around 200 MW of projects reaching FC.
Management of all civil engineering related items of windfarms in project development and procurement phases. The work consisted of e.g. layout optimization in cooperation with the wind&turbine engineers, concept design of the road and hardstand layouts, programming and machinating the geotechnical investigations, evaluation of turbine and transformer transportation options, setting technical requirements for the cBoP-contracts, securing quarries for the projects, making analysis of the civil construction scope in project acquisitions (DD), development of technical innovations, management of consultants and providing technical support to the project managers in wide variety of civil engineering related questions. I worked mainly in Finnish and Romanian markets (around 20 projects in parallel). Around 700 MW of projects taken into FC.
The BoP construction of a windfarm consisting of 60+ turbines in Sweden with an EPC contract model. The work consisted of tasks like contract management, design review and management, scheduling, cost estimation, mass-haul planning, procurement planning and evaluation of cost increments, risk management and overall project management. The whole windfarm layout was re-designed in my lead to significantly decrease the CapEx.
Manager of the cost estimation of several road projects with D&B contract models in Finland and Sweden. The work consisted of tasks like design guidance, scheduling, cost estimation, procurement planning, mass-haul planning, evaluation of cost increments, risk management, evaluation and cost comparison of designs, cash flow estimations, change management and overall management of the cost estimation during the tendering phase. The optimized designs and execution planning were the key factor to make competitive tenders.
Cost Estimation: Team member of the cost estimation team in several road and urban construction projects with different types of contract models (D&B, alliance and conventional) in Finland. The work consisted of tasks like design guidance, scheduling, cost estimation, procurement planning, mass-haul planning, evaluation of cost increments, risk management and evaluation and cost comparison of designs. Development: Coordinator of the secondary construction materials team researching the possibilities to use secondary construction materials in construction with tasks including investigation of legislature, permitting, technical possibilities, test programs and investigation of commercial possibilities.
Approx. 20 construction projects with D&B, conventional and unit priced contract models. Project types ranged in wide variety of infra projects like water management construction, subway construction, parking facilities, road and traffic construction and groundworks for house construction. Tasks consisted of site management, contract management, health and safety planning and follow-up, procurement, scheduling, cost and income follow-up, site leadership and staff management, subcontractor management, negotiations, quality management among other tasks in the execution of the works. The technical diversion included e.g. earthworks, rock blasting, rock reinforcement, sheet piling, pile driving (drilled and hydraulic hammered), concrete works, rock anchoring, soil stabilization, water and pipeline tech among others and many times in challenging environments (e.g. next to highways or in dense urban areas). Victory in the work safety competition arranged by the official work safety and union authorities. Certification for 1st class concrete foreman.
