Anthony Russell is Director of Partnerships for Asia Pacific at OpenAI, leading the build-out of the region’s business through a handpicked group of high-quality deployment partners. His focus is on scaling impact, establishing APAC as the company’s global best-practice reference, and enabling transformative AI adoption across industries. Before joining OpenAI, Anthony headed Workplace by Facebook’s Partnership & Alliance business in Asia Pacific, managing and growing the ecosystem of service delivery and product partnerships across the region from Singapore. Earlier, he established and led the Asia Pacific Technology Partner business for Amazon Web Services (AWS), co-founded Cloud Academy, and served as Director of API & Integration at Whispir. With over 20 years in the IT sector—including eight years in cloud computing and 14 in mobility, new media, and telecommunications—Anthony has held leadership, product, program, and technical roles at IBM, Fujitsu, News International, C-Bridge, and Telstra.

    I am privileged to be help the Assaya team setup and scale their medical device company. In late 2020 I was presented with the problem statement and concept that the co-founders felt would help scale pathogen testing at scale (including COVID) and was intrigued. Over the following six months I watched from the sidelines as the team gained FDA certification for a Class 1 medical device. Upon relocating back to Sydney I agreed to invest and join the board of this fascinating new startup.
