  • Founder & Lead Solution Architect at LegitID Solutions
    Feb 2021 - Oct 2022 · 1 yr 9 mos

Problem: Covid and the ongoing recession are forcing financial institutions to concentrate their physical locations in major cities in Kenya while closing down their branches in rural areas. The majority of the population however, lives in rural areas. This leads to digital and financial exclusion of a large part of the country's population. A main hinderance to this being a lack of digital identity verification. Opportunity: High internet penetration throughout the country coupled with ubiquitous mobile phone and mobile money usage. Solution: I founded LegitID Digital Solutions to enable any Kenyan to securely sign a legally binding contract from the comfort of wherever they are. All they would require is a national identification document, mobile capable device and an internet connection. By using cloud technologies, facial recognition and biometrics, LegitID is able to provide it's customers with a service for securely, rapidly and reliably verifying the identity of it's potential customers in near real time. This not only helps them fasttrack their onboarding processes but also greatly increases the user experiences on their digital platforms.
