Since 2013 professional focus has been on innovation in the strategic areas of disruptive and systemic change – on one hand environmental change and decarbonisation, and on the other digitalisation: regenerative business innovation and ICT based technologies: renewable energy systems, circular economy business models (eco-design, renewable-materials and zero-waste), new transport systems, new collaborative and network-based business models - including solutions aimed at tackling climate change. Multifaceted professional focus: supporting business as a strategic consultant for innovation management, with the aim of obtaining alternative finance for high-risk projects, through the European Commission, EIB and national innovation funding programmes. Specific areas of strategic business support involve the development of innovation plans, roadmaps, business models and business plans - targeted for innovation financing and grants. Responsible for innovation and entrepreneurship projects for SMEs and StartUps with special focus on the development of business models, business plans and strategic plans: commercial, operational and internationalisation plans. Responsible for managing and developing innovation projects to apply for European Commission funding (grants, loans and guarantees), natinal fundign for innovation (FEDER, CDTI, MINECO), and acceleration of the projects, once funding is available, through FINNOVA´s STARTUP EUROPE ACCELERATOR programme. – Writing and reviewing project proposals prior to submission. – Actioning work package deliverables. – Advising on innovation and entrepreneurship project with a triple balance approach, risk and impact studies: economically viable, socially inclusive and ecologically responsible. – Direct relationship management with clients and entrepreneurs, personalised advice through coaching and mentoring on specific projects. Finnovaregio Foundation, head office in Brussels, Belgium: Financing and developing INNOVATIVE PROJECTS within regions across Europe, and internationally through partner countries. Advise and develop new business models based on eco-innovation and social-innovation in line with European 2020 strategy. Development of business strategy and new lines of business in the area of public-private partnership, including public financing of private sector innovation and entrepreneurship, and business-to-business collaborative innovation. Consultative position within NOBEL GRID, a Horizon 2020 approved European project with estimated cost of €13.8 Million. The project will deliver EU citizens lower electricity prices, more secure and stable grids and renewable electricity supply. NOBEL GRID will develop, deploy and evaluate advanced tools and ICT services for Distribution System Operators and electric cooperatives, enabling active consumers’ involvement, through collaborative consumer participation and new business models that will enable distributed renewable energy production through the dual-use of telecommunication networks.
Development of business proposals, offers and solutions for Sustainability analytics, implementing an innovative ‘gamification’ web platform. Solution targeted at organisations and municipalities. Responsible for development of markets in the Madrid, Spain region, and English speaking regions(focused on the UK).
Development of Business Models and Innovation projects for the driving of the circular and collaborative economies in line with the European 2020 Strategy for the environmental protection, social inclusion and stability, and energy security. Develop proposals for the application of Horizon 2020 grants for SMEs; driving SME from innovation through to commercialisation, focusing especially on the market. Work with strategic partners to source eco-innovation and social innovation projects that will enhance Europe's resilience. Act as an agent to bring together entrepreneurs and businesses to create collaborative ventures. Projects include: 1) Development of a "green gas" circular economy business with collaborative participation in-network - converting organic waste to liquefied methane (CH4) and carbon credits. 2) Development of techno-soils tailored for use in abandoned mines, infrastructure projects and agriculture. 3) Industrial cleaning services that recovers vegetable based grease & oils to biodiesel.
Developed the business plan for a multifunctional sustainable organic aquaculture business. Developed and ran a Crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to build a hatchery and produce organic fish eggs to provide a closed cycle of production, from hatchery to market as direct to final consumer. ERASMUS for ENTREPRENEURS European Commission exchange programme offered a 6 months grant from the European Union, offered to research and develop business opportunities in Sustainable Organic Aquaculture of Multi-Functional nature; including rural development, restauration, recreation, tourism and market development of Organic produce.
Developed the business model for a replicable sustainable aquaculture projects based on European Funding initiatives such as the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).
