I have been with Pinsent Masons LLP (formerly McGrigors LLP pre-merger) for over 22 years. Post-merger from April 2011 I have been working in the DB services team as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator. I am a first aider at work, a mental health champion and carbon literate. In my DBA role I have implemented and maintained on-premises development, testing and production SQL database solutions including TDE encryption of SQL 2019, high availability, log shipping, mirroring, disaster recovery, security, replication, monitoring and alerting, back-up and recovery of SQL 2000, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2019 development, standard and enterprise editions in stand-alone and clustered instances in multiple international regions - including SQL Server and Power BI Reporting and Gateway Services, SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Analysis Services - tabular models. Recent projects have been: • migration\consolidation\decommissioning of on-premises instances to data centre • upgrade\migration of end of life SQL 2008 and 2012 databases\instances • downgrade of SQL enterprise edition to standard editions instances resulting in considerable savings in licensing costs • consolidation\migration of data management SQL infrastructure Pre-merger I had a variety or roles at McGrigors ranging from Worksite administrator, support analyst and trainer

    Responsible for: • development\test\production SQL 2000\2005\2008\2012\2016\2017 and 2019 standalone\clustered installations, upgrades, downgrades, ongoing SQL administration, maintenance of over 100 SQL instances very terabytes of data in 7 international regions • capacity planning and applying SP's\CU's to SQL instances • implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for on-premises databases including always on, log shipping, mirroring and replication – including on-premises replication to Azure • TDE encryption of SQL 2019 databases • supporting DR failover tests for critical applications • CommVault SQL backup, restores and alerting • decommissioning legacy systems and maintaining documentation • supporting SQL 2000\2005\2008\2012\2016\2017 and 2019 SQL Server databases • documenting processes and knowledge sharing with colleagues. • various project related tasks liaising and working with vendors and internal clients to upgrade database applications (ie vFire\ASM, Interaction, iManage Worksite, Carpe Diem, Aderant etc) • liaising with other business support teams and vendors to securely and safely transmit sensitive SQL database backups making sure appropriate SLA were in place – and documenting the process • taking ownership database issues\incidents\requests and resolving them by priority within agreed SLA using knowledge, skills, and resources available. • SQL Server health checks and propose recommendations based on SQL Server Performance Tuning and Optimisation • managing database deployments, code changes and documentation including the maintenance of T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and views • the deployment, management and troubleshooting of SSIS packages, SSAS tabular models and SSRS\Power BI reports to support business requirements • managing data distribution, replication and manipulation, Extraction transformation and loading (ETL). • implementing changes on production following change management process.
