ANNA WERLIKOVÁ began her song training as a child. Among her first YIDDISH & HEBREW SONG teachers were performers Dany BOBER (IL/ D) and Daniel KEMPIN (D). Yiddish singer Anna WERLIKOVÁ - paternally Shoa survivor of the 3rd, 2nd & 1st Generation - holds 3 B.A.-equivalents, and 2 M.A.-Levels in HISTORY, GERMAN LITERATURE, ART HISTORY, and JEWISH STUDIES from the FREIE UNIVERSITAET/ FREE UNIVERSITY BERLIN, Germany, completing 1/4 of her Humanities studies at UNIVERSITÉ DE PARIS IV-SORBONNE. In 1996, she was named "OUTSTANDING TEACHER" at Freie Universitaet/ Free University Berlin, Germany after working as an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF GERMAN-JEWISH CULTURE HISTORY at Freie Universitaet/ Free University Berlin, Germany. Through University Exchange Programs she used to study as RESEARCH STUDENT at Tel Aviv University (TAU) and at Hebrew University Jerusalem (HUJ), Israel (1996), at Calcutta University (CU) in Calcutta/ Kolkata (Western Bengal), and Rabindranath Tagore's Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan (Orissa), India (2000). Prior to her involvement in academia, she sang till now as YIDDISH & HEBREW SOLOIST worldwide in National and International Festivals and institutions such as Jazz Festival Nice in France, The Acco Festival in Israel, and The Lincoln Center of Performing Arts in New York City/ USA. She pursued a Graduate Performance Degree (GPD) from the Senate of Berlin, Germany in voice after 6yrs of International Song/ Jewish Song studies under tutelage of renowned Music Theatre conductor Armin GROEPLER (2000), refined in masterclasses of Yiddish-world star Bente KAHAN (PL), and Klezmer-Guru Giora FEIDMAN (USA/ D). Anna WERLIKOVÁ is the Founder and Artistic Director of ASOY - Artistic School Of Yiddish, and also the President of ASOJ-ACADEMY FOR SOCIETY & JUDAISM, both in Berlin, Germany. She married husband Harold HAMMER-SCHENK - a renowned Synagogue Researcher - in their hometown of Berlin, Germany, and their 10 year-old daughter is currently joining a Berliner Primary School for Music with special training in MUSICAL, CHOIR, and THEATRE.
