Anna is a board certified ophthalmologist and licensed acupuncturist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and volunteer ophthalmologist with the Himalayan Cataract Project. She completed a General Surgery internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the UPMC Eye and Ear Institute with a focus on improving medical student exposure to the field of ophthalmology and early involvement in community outreach work. She was involved with skills-transfer teaching as a member of Eye Missions for Developing Countries working in Olancho, Honduras (2011-2013). While an Oculofacial Plastic, Reconstructive and Orbital Surgery Fellow at Stanford University she served as a volunteer ophthalmology faculty at the Arbor Free Clinic in Menlo Park and the Pacific Free Clinic in San Jose where she taught undergraduate and medical students the elements of eye exams in an effort to improve delivery of care to underserved populations. She serves as volunteer faculty for the Guerrilla Eye Service, a grassroots student-led organization founded in 2006 to provide comprehensive eyecare to under insured patients in the tri-state area. She is a volunteer ophthalmologist for the Himalayan Cataract Project, a liaison for Global Sight Alliance and Yo2Go.org and served on the AAO YO International committee.
