I work mainly in the chemistry sector, providing advice on all aspects of the patent process, from patentability opinions, drafting and prosecuting applications, through to oppositions and appeals at the European Patent Office and revocation actions at the Unified Patents Court. As well as representing clients at the EPO, I handle prosecution of international patent portfolios before overseas patent offices. My experience covers a wide range of technologies including food production and packaging, aquaculture, printing materials, polymers, semiconductor manufacture and medical devices. I have a particular interest in patenting of everyday items such as food, textiles and clothing. Clients include companies from start-ups to multi-nationals, as well as an NHS trust, with many based in the Nordic Region. I am recommended in The Legal 500 UK and IAM Patent 1000, and also as an ‘IP Star’ by Managing Intellectual Property and "Leader" in WIPR. I have an interest in patent education. From 2008 to 2026 I contributed to the CIPA Guide to the Patents Acts, the standard reference text for UK patent attorneys. I also edit a monthly update on UK patent case law for the CIPA journal. I design and run training courses on patent skills for in-house departments.
