A standardized patient is a person trained to act as a real patient in order to simulate a medical condition. They are used in medical education and training to help students practice clinical skills, communication, diagnosis, and patient interaction in a safe, controlled environment. The interactions are based on improvisational techniques, allowing SPs to respond spontaneously to the actions and words of the students.
