About

ANJUN JIA is a playwright/screenwriter/creative producer who writes for gen Z, immigrant, and queer audiences. he’s transgender, neurodivergent, and a first gen chinese-canadian. his narrative style is often strangely surreal, and comedic voice tends towards deadpan and dire. his stories are usually about LGBTQ+ people of colour and their pursuits of freedom, respect, or vengeance. this commonly means dysfunctional families, extraordinary people in ordinary circumstances, and anti-heroic protagonists. his film/tv scripts have been workshopped at TIFF Next Wave, Sundance Institute Collab, and Center for Cultural Power. he has a BFA in dramatic writing from NYU Tisch.
